Trustwave Government Solutions Attains StateRAMP Authorization Status

Written by | Aug 20, 2024

Trustwave Government Solutions (TGS) has attained authorized status by the State Risk and Authorization Management Program (StateRAMP) for its Government Fusion platform.

"State and local agencies rely heavily on their technology partners to strengthen their cybersecurity postures, and we're proud to be able to deliver a solution that meets or exceeds their elevated security requirements," said TGS President Bill Rucker. “With a government agency authority to operate, and 100 percent US Only persons cleared security operations team servicing the mission 24x7x365, we can offer unparalleled security and peace of mind for state and local entities.”

StateRAMP provides a security framework for state and local governments to manage third-party risk and verify cloud security services. With this announcement, TGS is now positioned to help accomplish this task and can be found on the StateRAMP marketplace.

TGS has also been active on the federal government front.

In January 2024, TGS announced that its Government Fusion platform had been designated as “In Process Program Management Office (PMO) Review” by the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP). Once TGS receives final FedRAMP authorization, it will become the first and only pure-play Managed Detection and Response (MDR) provider to achieve this designation. This achievement was one of several reasons cited by the analyst firm IDC for naming TGS a Major Player in the inaugural IDC MarketScape: U.S. National Government Professional Security Services 2024 Vendor Assessment.

What is the TGS Government Fusion Platform

Trustwave Government Fusion is the platform used to manage and monitor Trustwave's MDR and Co-Managed SIEM/SOC (SIEM) solutions and is specifically designed for federal, state, local and education agencies and clients.

TGS's MDR and SIEM solutions offer 24x7 real-time monitoring, threat detection, threat hunting, intelligence, remediation capabilities, and SOAR functionality seamlessly integrated with a client's existing security technologies. The platform ensures scalability and straightforward onboarding, making it an ideal choice for clients seeking augmentation or Managed SOC services at a significantly lower cost compared to traditional on-premises SOC solutions.

Defining StateRAMP

StateRAMP is a registered nonprofit organization that establishes security standards for cloud service providers (CSPs) working with state and local governments. The program was created in 2020 by a committee of state security and information experts in response to a rise in cyberattacks that exploit cloud security vulnerabilities. StateRAMP's goal is to improve the cybersecurity posture of public institutions and their citizens.

StateRAMP is based on the current version of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) publication 800-53, the same publication used to establish FedRAMP and SLED organizations to trust potential vendors’ commitment to providing secure products by allowing public sector members to review the authorized product list and view continuous monitoring of products through a secure portal.

StateRAMP's goal is to ensure its member vendors meet best-in-class standards throughout their contract lifespan. StateRAMP provides insight into a provider's products, allowing members to make informed decisions under tight timelines for low costs while keeping competition open to providers of all sizes.
