CVE-2010-4506 and CVE-2010-4507 Released

The SpiderLabs team published two new advisories today. The first, CVE-2010-4506, was discovered in Clear's iSpot and ClearSpot 4G devices. The iSpot and ClearSpot 4G are portable devices, which allow up to 8 users to share the same 4G connection. Matthew Jakubowski of the SpiderLabs Network Penetration Testing team discovered a flaw in the administrative web interface which allows an attacker to perform a cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attack. As an example, the following HTML code will add a new user to the iSpot and ClearSpot 4G devices:

The second vulnerability, CVE-2010-4607, was discovered in the Passlogix v-GO Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) software product. This product is now known as Oracle ESSO-PR since Passlogix was acquired by Oracle. SSPR allows locked-out users in a Windows environment to quickly reset their password directly from their workstation. Garrett Held of the SpiderLabs Application Security team discovered a method to gain access to the underlying operating system in the event that an invalid certificate was in use on systems that were running this product. Physical access to the workstation was required in order to take advantage of this vulnerability. The vulnerability affected versions of the software prior to 7.0A, which are no longer supported or available by Oracle. While these versions are no longer supported, SpiderLabs felt obligated to publish this vulnerability as it was discovered at a client site as recently as August of 2010.
