CHICAGO, (March 30, 2010) - SpiderLabs, Trustwave's advanced security team responsible for incident response and forensics, penetration testing and application security and security research, has been accepted as a member of the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST).

FIRST is a premier non-profit organization and recognized global leader in incident response. Membership in FIRST enables incident response teams to more effectively respond to security incidents by providing access to best practices, tools, and trusted communication with member teams.

Trustwave will participate with other FIRST member teams to provide information exchange and cooperation on issues such as new vulnerabilities and common attack techniques. Since its founding in 1990, FIRST members have resolved an almost continuous stream of security-related attacks and incidents including handling thousands of security vulnerabilities affecting millions of computer systems and networks throughout the world connected by the Internet.

"As the threat landscape evolves, we must educate ourselves about these constantly evolving cyber threats," says Robert J. McCullen, chairman and CEO of Trustwave. "FIRST is another avenue in which Trustwave can share information with its peers and learn from other firms involved in incident response."

"We're proud that our incident response team has been recognized for their extensive work and outstanding reputation by FIRST and several of its member teams," says Nicholas J. Percoco, senior vice president and head of Trustwave's SpiderLabs. "This is a great venue for information sharing and we're confident that we'll help strengthen the organization's knowledge about the latest security threats."
