CHICAGO (September 29, 2011) - Trustwave, a leading provider of information security and compliance solutions, today announced that TrustKeeper, the company's innovative security and compliance Web portal, has been selected as one of 75 nominees for the 2011 Chicago Innovation Awards. The ten winners will be announced Tuesday, November 8, 2011, and celebrated at an event at Chicago's Harris Theater that evening.
The Chicago Innovation Awards, celebrating its 10th year, is Chicago's foremost recognition of the most innovative new products or services brought to market or to public service each year. There were more than 400 nominees for the 2011 Chicago Innovation Awards, representing an increase of more than 60 percent over the past two years.
Trustwave TrustKeeper is a revolutionary Web portal that supports merchants' compliance efforts, including moving merchants through the complex compliance process with greater ease and efficiency by making the tasks achievable by non-technical users. This helps facilitate compliance validation with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) for merchants, or acquiring banks, Independent Sales Organizations (ISOs) and processors with large merchant populations.
TrustKeeper features PCI Wizard, which provides a step-by-step approach that reduces the burden of complexity of achieving PCI DSS compliance, regardless of business size or scope. Additionally, TrustKeeper Agent helps merchants identify if unencrypted cardholder data or track data is stored, thereby reducing the merchants' risk of card data theft. TrustKeeper also helps merchants complete required vulnerability scans and receive their PCI DSS compliance certificate.
The security modules in TrustKeeper help customers easily add-on those services or solutions that will help them achieve compliance as a first step, and more important, build security as part of their organization. From scanning services and firewall management for the small merchant, to larger scale security management inclusive of data loss technology, encryption and more, TrustKeeper has modules for different data security needs.
As a leading provider of managed security services, Trustwave can deliver these services to a merchant with a single view. By teaming with Trustwave, the merchant outsources complex tasks and security needs, but can manage their security posture in one place.
"These awards inspire innovation and encourage development of solutions like TrustKeeper, which helps protect commerce for the small corner store all the way to the largest retailer," said Robert J. McCullen, chairman, CEO and president of Trustwave. "We're proud of our Chicago heritage and honored to be nominated among our peers in the city that helped us grow into the market leader we are today."
"The most important message of the Chicago Innovation Awards is one of confidence and courage," said Thomas D. Kuczmarski, co-founder with Chicago journalist Dan Miller, of the awards. "The economy is challenging, but each nominee believes the simple truth that a powerful new product will find a rewarding market and has the courage to pursue their vision."
Each year ten winners are chosen from among the 75 finalists by a panel of judges reflecting a cross section of Chicago's business community. In addition, each of the 75 finalists is automatically in the running for the annual "People's Choice Award," selected through online balloting at www.chicagoinnovationawards.com.
