Accepts Sixth Consecutive Invitation to Largest College-Level Cyber Security Competition
CHICAGO (April 07, 2011) - Trustwave, a leading provider of information security and compliance solutions, today announced that a member of its SpiderLabs division will participate in the 2011 National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC), April 8-10, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas. SpiderLabs is Trustwave's advanced security team responsible for application security, incident response, penetration testing, physical security and security research.
The National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) is a 3-day event established in 2004 and is the largest college-level cyber security competition in the world. Focusing on the operational aspect of managing and protecting an existing network infrastructure, student teams must assume administrative and protective duties for an existing "commercial" network. Security professionals then attempt to exploit these systems while student teams work to balance security needs with business needs.
Trustwave security professional Ryan Jones will again be on the "Red Team," which consists of individuals highly skilled in ethical cyber attack techniques. This is the sixth consecutive year Jones has been asked to participate. He and his team will attempt to penetrate the students' commercial networks to create as much havoc as possible for the student teams.
"This exercise is an outstanding simulation of what these future security professionals will experience in the real world," said Robert J. McCullen, chairman and CEO of Trustwave. "The next generation of cyber security professionals will have great responsibilities and we're committed to supporting their training efforts."
