New Waterloo office features Advanced Security Operations Centre, supports increased hiring and strategic partnership with Rogers Communications
WATERLOO, Ontario - July 26, 2016 - Trustwave today announced it has opened a new office in Waterloo, Ontario, expanded hiring and added a new country manager to support the company's growth in Canada.
The new Waterloo office features approximately 1,050 square metres of space that can support approximately 90 employees. The office location also features an Advanced Security Operations Centre (ASOC) through which Trustwave delivers managed security services to clients headquartered in Canada as well as multi-national corporations with operations in the region. The Canadian office employs security analysts, ethical hackers, forensic investigators, researchers, engineers, sales and support staff that develop and deliver innovative cybersecurity technologies and managed security services. Trustwave had previously leased approximately 850 square metres of space at a location in Cambridge, Ontario.
Trustwave also announced plans to hire approximately 30 new employees at the Waterloo office. Roles include security and threat analysts, security consultants, software engineers, sales and marketing. New employees will join the 65 who are already employed by Trustwave in Canada.
Recently appointed Trustwave Canada Country Manager Michael Sims said, "As one of the industry's leading and fastest-growing cybersecurity and managed security services providers, Trustwave needed the extra space to support our current team and the massive hiring we're doing in the Waterloo area. The new Canadian office is an innovative high-tech space that appeals to existing employees and will support our aggressive hiring goals in the region."
Sims joined Trustwave in April 2016 from Optiv Security, where he served as the Canadian Country Manager and oversaw Optiv's go-to-market strategy for managed security services and other offerings. Prior to Optiv, he held positions at CSDC Systems, Xyratex/Seagate, Sun Microsystem and IBM. Sims also served on the board of directors of Canaire Inc, served as a school board trustee, and was the founding President of Grand River Mustangs Girls Hockey. He's an alumni of the University of Guelph, Management Economics Program.
Trustwave's increased focus on the Canadian market supports Trustwave's organic growth in Canada, as well as the strategic partnership Trustwave and Rogers Communications announced in December 2015. Canada-based Rogers Communications now offers Trustwave Managed Security Services as part of its cybersecurity as a service offerings.
Canadian businesses are under increased pressure from cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities and resource constraints. According to the 2016 Security Pressures Report from Trustwave, based on a survey of 210 Canadian information technology (IT) professionals who are security decision makers or security influencers within their organizations, detecting vulnerabilities is the top security responsibility for Canadians. Canadian respondents also rated customer data theft as their top worrying outcome of an attack or data breach. They are twice as concerned about losing the respect of their peers following a breach vs. the global average, and Canadians put increased budget at the top of their wish list for 2016.
