CHICAGO (April 30, 2009) - Trustwave, the leading provider of on-demand data security and payment card industry compliance management solutions to businesses and organizations throughout the world, has enhanced its Managed Internal Vulnerability Scan service.
Trustwave's Managed Internal Vulnerability Scanning (IVS) service scans network assets, providing information to help organizations ensure sensitive data and critical business assets are properly configured against threats and exploits by hackers and others with malicious intent. The IVS observes a network from behind a firewall, providing a comprehensive view of an organization's IT environment, consistently looking for any exposed vulnerabilities for remediation.
Trustwave Managed IVS is powered by TrustKeeper®, Trustwave's industry-leading, Web-based portal used by thousands of organizations to monitor their security. TrustKeeper's scanning technology leverages a real-time database comprised of the SANS Top 20 and more than 5,000 other vulnerabilities to determine an organization's susceptibility to the latest threats.
Trustwave's enhanced Managed IVS service now includes flexible scan scheduling and management through the TrustKeeper portal, including the ability to start, stop and pause scans within the portal-administrator and user function. Additional administrator functions allow users to specify a scan type (i.e. recurring or ad-hoc) and scan scope (light inventory, full vulnerability, etc). In addition, multiple scan profiles can now be created that represent various network segments of a customer's network for scanning purposes.
Vulnerability reporting for Trustwave's Managed IV S service also includes several new features. Managed scan customers now have the ability to free-form label individual IP addresses with a description of their choosing. For example, a system that houses a SQL database can be labeled in reports as "Database Server." Compliance reports now provide a listing of open ports and services for each scanned IP address. Reporting results, including scan summary and remediation recommendations, are all managed and delivered through the TrustKeeper Web portal.
Trustwave Managed IVS is supported by Trustwave security engineers trained in vulnerability management from a state-of-the-art Security Operations Center (SOC), with 24x7 multi-lingual support services.
"Managed IVS should be done in-line with your business growth; as your business grows, it has more varied applications and more assets to protect," says Robert J. McCullen, chairman and CEO of Trustwave. "In helping to improve an organization's security posture, Trustwave's Managed IVS service identifies critical asset vulnerabilities and potential exploits providing support for internal application patching and other remediation activities."
