Partnership with Trustwave Facilitates Compliance to Enable Successful Adoption Amongst Merchants
CHICAGO AND DES MOINES, IOWA (June 29, 2010) -SHAZAM, a member-owned and -controlled EFT network and processor, has successfully enrolled approximately 75 percent of its entire Level 4 merchant portfolio into its Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance program. Almost 90 percent of those enrolled have achieved compliance validation with the PCI DSS. SHAZAM partnered with Trustwave, a leading provider of information security and compliance solutions, to develop its PCI DSS program.
"Level 4 merchants are often the toughest market segment to validate as PCI DSS compliant because they do not have in-house resources to devote to compliance and security," says Dan Kramer, senior vice president marketing and merchant services at SHAZAM. "We worked closely with Trustwave to create a comprehensive program that would match our merchant's needs - a program that would enable compliance through a straightforward process that they understood and could follow, minimizing time spent away from their business."
To achieve its high enrollment and subsequent validation rates, SHAZAM partnered with Trustwave to leverage its industry expertise, world class customer support and award-winning technology. SHAZAM was eager to provide its merchants a solution that offered straightforward self-help technology, as well as an experienced support team to manage complex issues.
SHAZAM engaged Trustwave to provide its merchants' access to TrustKeeper®, Trustwave's industry-leading PCI DSS compliance web portal that facilitates validation. Enrolling in TrustKeeper helped merchants take the appropriate steps to ensure their network and payment processing environments were properly configured and safeguarded from external threats, theft and fraud.
Straightforward, iterative merchant communication ensured merchants understood the goal of the program and what steps to take to become compliant. SHAZAM worked closely with Trustwave to provide merchants with educational and compliance tools to help build awareness of the PCI DSS requirements, and teach them how to take action.
"Trustwave's PCI DSS expertise helped us formalize a program that provided clear communication about the process, and technology to help move our merchants through the compliance process and help them maintain that compliance," says Kramer.
"SHAZAM was security-minded and understood that a clear and manageable program would drive the highest adoption rates," says Robert J. McCullen, chairman and CEO of Trustwave. "We planted a seed in the compliance process and together we grew a successful program. It's exciting to see the hard work pay off."
